Holiday Mugs

For Christmas gifts, I wanted to do something special for everyone, I really wanted to get creative! So when I read through this tutorial on Ladies Home Journal about painted botanical mugs, I got crafty! I went out and bought some porcelain mugs and porcelain pens at Michaels and got to work. I made the botanical mugs for the girls I was gifting to, and for the guys that I was gifting to, I decided to make moustache mugs! On one side of the mug I freehanded a french moustache and on the other side I made other 'staches. To finish off the gifts, I stashed kisses, hot chocolate mix, a mix of teas and sparkler sticks.

This tutorial was so much fun that I think I'm going to have to make more! The botanical mugs turned out so amazing (I didn't follow a template) that I had to make one for myself! I even signed my name at the bottoms of the mugs to personalize them a little. I hope that everyone loved them! ♥

Long Overdue Update

My internet has been going haywire the past few days and I've missed keeping up with my blog and reading through my blogroll. I have so many post ideas that I want to execute in the next few days!

I have been noticing lately that the weather is starting to get pretty chilly! I saw on the weather forecast that we're probably going to get a bit of snow tomorrow! In lieu of the dipping temperature, I decided to knit a cowl to wear with my black blazer or my trench coat. I was browsing Etsy and came across this chunky wheat neck and shoulder cowl. I had some yarn lying around so I decided to copy it! I absolutely adore the colour of the yarn that I chose, its a burnt red/orange colour and it is so soft. I will post pictures when I am finished it.

ps: Did you know that I learned to knit through YouTube? The new media that is provided to us really does amaze me.

DIY // Bistro Chairs

This past weekend I decided that I wanted to switch things up with my Tarno bistro set from IKEA. I was kind of bored with the dull brown colour and wanted something more eye catching and bright for summer. So I walked on over to Home Hardware and looked over the paint colours for about 15 minutes before deciding on a minty blue colour. I was looking for a colour that matched Tiffany & Co. and I think I picked out the right one! I'm so happy with the end result and I can't wait to be able to hang out on my balcony in the warm weather!  The colour is called "Whisper" :)

Cosmic Love

It hasn't quite seeped in yet that it's the end of the school year and people are off for the summer. I'm really excited for the warmer and sunnier weather (it's been so blah lately!). For the summer I really want to make my balcony the go to place for dinners and drinks with twinkly lights and comfortable and chic cushions. I really like this idea for lighting that I stumbled on recently.  I have a ball of hemp that I got a few years ago because I was in this phase of making hemp bracelets and stuff, but this would be amazing to make for a balcony during the summer. It's cheap too! There will be many, many more posts about balcony inspiration coming up in the next little while!

Little Secrets

I stumbled across this website that shows you how to make your own shadow box photo display. You can put any little objects and photos in it to display what you collected during a trip or vacation. I have so many pictures from trips that I've taken over the years that I need to get printed. Something like this could give me the boost I need to get all that done. Now, if only pesky school weren't in the way ;)

Shooting the Moon

One of my friends told me about this amazing little website that allows you to make up word clouds by either choosing which words you want displayed or from a website. Naturally I chose to type in my blog URL and before I knew it, all of the most common words used on my blog popped up. This website could be used for a number of things, for presentations or homemade cards, or it could even be used as artwork for your walls. The possibilities are endless! Make your own word cloud at Wordle.

DIY: Lanterns

Every now and then I like to visit Design*Sponge to browse room and decorating ideas. As I was reading through posts, I came across a cute DIY project that would be perfect to tackle during the spring and summer months. How cute would these coffee can lanterns look on a patio or deck looking out to a backyard? These lanterns look very eclectic and Moroccan, and can easily be styled according to one's personal taste. They would also look amazing as a table centrepiece. Head over to Design*Sponge to get the instructions. I will definitely be making a few of these lanterns pretty soon.
