Gardens of Marqueyssac

I was looking around Black Eiffel the other day and came across the beautiful Gardens of Marqueyssac in Perigord, France. Wouldn't this just be the perfect place to travel to for a romantic getaway? The hills of Perigord are stunning and the way the gardens are designed and beautifully lit at night set a magical atmosphere. I would just love to drop everything to take an impromptu trip here! If you're having a terribly stressful week, take a look at these pictures and hopefully they will make you feel better. Have a lovely evening!

Little Secrets

I stumbled across this website that shows you how to make your own shadow box photo display. You can put any little objects and photos in it to display what you collected during a trip or vacation. I have so many pictures from trips that I've taken over the years that I need to get printed. Something like this could give me the boost I need to get all that done. Now, if only pesky school weren't in the way ;)

My Boots

One of the places I've always had an affinity for, and have been longing to travel to is Iceland. When I was younger, I thought Iceland was a big mass of snow and ice that had to be chipped away to reveal the real land that was underneath. Now, it has become a fascinating country that I hope to visit in the near future. The landscape looks so charming and unique. I know a lot of people who like to travel to warm places whenever they get the chance, overlooking little gems like this country.

If you have the time, you should watch this adorable video made by Inspired by Iceland. Doesn't it make you want to hop on a plane and go there? One day Iceland, one day.

Sidenote: I got a new pair of awesome fall boots. They're almost knee high, suede-looking boots. They are awesome, and were so cheap ($20!).

I'm Good, I'm Gone

Well, tomorrow is almost upon us. It's time to make the trip back to Ottawa for the new school year. One more year and then I'll be done. Done. Urgh, it's time to go back to packing. For some reason, I find it hard to believe that I'll be leaving at 10:00am, I barely have anything packed. Time to put my headphones in and get to work. With my room in Ottawa striped bare of clothing and items, I'll be able to make it all nice and tidy and maybe even post pictures of it. Until then, here's a pretty picture.

Home From Away

Last week I went on vacation to Prince Edward Island and got to experience the beautiful beaches, red dirt, delicious potatoes and the picturesque sunsets. My family and I ended up driving to both tips of the island collecting sea shells, rocks and sand to make sand jars for DIY souvenirs, which I got the idea of while seeing one at one of the gift shops we visited.

Prince Edward Island is the perfect place to own a summer cottage and I was really inspired by the bright and beachy feel that a lot of the homes have. I've always seen myself living in a large city, but after visiting PEI, I could imagine myself living in a cottage home. Below, I've included a compilation of pictures I took during my trip.
A Lighthouse in Cavendish
Deep Sea Fishing Boats outside of Cavendish
A beautiful farmhouse overlooking the ocean
The road to our cottage for the week
East Point where the two tides meet and erode the dirt
North Cape Lighthouse
A gorgeous barn located in Green Gables in Cavendish. I love the cedar siding on it.
Me on the shore of North Cape. You can kind of see the wind farm in the background
Probably one of my favourite photos of my trip. The tide was out and there were little creatures along the shore like crabs and jellyfish. I'm back to regular blogging now that I took the time to unpack and relax. Tomorrow I have another post lined up about the clothes I bought and the eclectic souvenirs that will look great in my apartment.

I'm headed on vacation to Prince Edward Island for a week and it should be a good time! I have a stack full of magazines, books and giant headphones to listen to my iPod during the drive there. I'll be back to blogging next week sometime. Until then, here a few pictures of my trip to Greece and Italy in March of 2006.
Looking out to the view of Athens from the Acropolis. The view is stunning.
Me in Italy. I'm not sure what the name of this place is, I should find out!
The island of Capri. This was definitely one of my favourite spots during my trip. Did you know that the Dolce and Gabanna ad for "Light Blue" was photographed here? I have a bottle of "Light Blue" and it smells pretty amazing.

Cityscape

So, I'm a bit disappointed that the Netherlands lost in the World Cup finals. It was a tough game, and the Dutch played great. It would have been nice for them to win, but there's always next time! They're going to be fierce competition come the 2014 World Cup held in Brazil (I'll be 25 years old then, yikes!). Anyways, onto less depressing news! Here are a few photos that are inspiring me right now:

Amsterdam in the wintertime. Doesn't it look so pretty? I can just imagine someone riding up to the rail and parking their bicycle before grabbing a mug of tea at a local cafe.

How amazing is this photo? Skating on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa might be nice, but skating in Amsterdam has to be so much more amazing. For people who don't know me, fall and winter are my favourite seasons. It's something about the snow and how it can make even the most unsightly things beautiful.

This video is amazing. The first time I watched it, I was in awe. You never see this many people riding bicycles in Ottawa. I wish Canadian cities were more bicycle friendly.

I would really love to visit the Netherlands one of these days, and not when I'm too old to travel. Ideally within the next few years. I don't think I would want to travel with someone though, I want want to do it alone. I don't know what it is, but I feel as though travelling with someone who doesn't appreciate the area as much as I do would distract me from taking in everything around me. Once I learn Dutch, I'll be set. I have a few language books lying around. One day!
