Until the Last Falling Star

Ohh, I love StumbleUpon. It's one of my favourite web programs to use whenever I'm in need of inspiration or  want to check out neat websites I haven't heard of. Well, today I was directed to this website that covered an awesome art project by Luise Valdes called "Casa de Karton". Valdes collected a lot of cardboard boxes and used it to create a cardboard house.

These photos remind me of the film "La science des reves", one of my favourite movies of all time. The main character of the movie has a hard time distinguishing real life from his dreams, and there are a few scenes where everything is made out of cardboard. I love how intricate everything in this art project is.

The weather has just started to become predictable and quite pleasant, and now there's the chance that it's going to snow on Saturday? It was a little funny when there was a short snowstorm in May, but snow in October? Usually we don't get snow until the beginning of December. It reminds me that lately, there's been so much hype about Christmas, which is awesome, but it's kind of too soon. Here's proof of my findings.

My Boots

One of the places I've always had an affinity for, and have been longing to travel to is Iceland. When I was younger, I thought Iceland was a big mass of snow and ice that had to be chipped away to reveal the real land that was underneath. Now, it has become a fascinating country that I hope to visit in the near future. The landscape looks so charming and unique. I know a lot of people who like to travel to warm places whenever they get the chance, overlooking little gems like this country.

If you have the time, you should watch this adorable video made by Inspired by Iceland. Doesn't it make you want to hop on a plane and go there? One day Iceland, one day.

Sidenote: I got a new pair of awesome fall boots. They're almost knee high, suede-looking boots. They are awesome, and were so cheap ($20!).

Happy Days Are Here Again

So this week has been a bit of a blur. I've been thinking a lot about my life and where I want myself to be. I've kind of had a change of heart just recently. I guess it all started with my Italian Cinema class. We were watching a really sad movie called Facing Windows. It was a really fantastic film, but it's one of those films where a woman is married with children and is up to her knees in regrets, not having followed her dreams or the things she loved. She's not in love with her husband and ends up having a short affair with her charming neighbour next door. The ending is pretty strange, but it really makes you think about how we're living right now and how we need to do things that make us happy, not settling for a satisfactory job or a satisfactory partner.

Anyways, after giving it some careful thought, I decided that after school, I'm going to work abroad. I'm not sure where yet, but I need to do it. I'm so tired about hearing adventurous stories from other people about where they've traveled to, and the crazy things that have happened to them on the way. I'm going to a seminar this week about learning how to work abroad, so hopefully I'll get some more information about it. More posts to come, pinky swear.

Vesuvius

I swear, in a past life I was an astronomer. I love all things related to the solar system, planets, stars, space gases, etc. Space is so strange. I could watch the night sky for hours if I could, but only get to steal a few glimpses when I'm walking outside when the sun goes down.

It's so funny to think that wherever you are in the world, you can see the same canopy of stars and constellations you see at home. It's comforting in a way, you could be worlds apart from someone special, but still get to share the same night sky.
